Nimble is a credit management and recoveries group, not a debt counsellor. If Nimble has contacted you about an account, it is administering that debt for a client. You are not in debt review, and Nimble cannot put you into it.
This page explains who Nimble is, what you can do when a collector contacts you, and how debt review with a registered counsellor is a different thing. We are independent and earn nothing from Nimble.
We checked the NCR lists of registered, cancelled and lapsed debt counsellors and found no Nimble on them. If you want debt review, you need an NCR-registered counsellor.
Who Nimble is
Nimble Group and Nimble Credit Solutions describe themselves as credit and capital administration businesses. Their sites list credit and capital administration for businesses, credit management and recoveries for clients, and a customer self-service page. A further arm, Nimble Special Opportunities, does private equity and restructuring.
Nimble is not a debt counsellor. Neither Nimble site offers debt review, and the NCR lists of registered, cancelled and lapsed counsellors carry no Nimble.

Why Nimble may have contacted you
Nimble's home page asks people who have received an email, SMS or call from it to make contact. That fits a business that administers accounts for its clients. If Nimble has contacted you about an account, it is administering that debt.
We cannot tell from the outside which account it is. The message or letter should name the original credit provider. If it does not, ask Nimble in writing which account and which provider it relates to.
Check that a message is really from Nimble before you reply or pay. Use the customer care number and email published on Nimble's own website, not a link or number inside the message.
One more warning. The NCR holds no personal information about consumers and will never contact you to discuss your debt review status. Report anyone who calls claiming to be from the NCR.
If a collector contacts you: your rights
Being contacted by Nimble does not put you under debt review. These are the rights we can support from the National Credit Act and NCR guidance.
- See what is on your credit report. You may inspect your credit bureau file without charge once in any 12 months.
- Challenge what is wrong, free. Every consumer can challenge the accuracy of bureau information free of charge. The bureau has 20 business days to seek evidence and must remove the information if it is not proven.
- Complain. The NCR call centre and complaints department, 0860 627 627 or [email protected], handles complaints from the public about credit providers, credit bureaus and debt counsellors. The National Financial Ombud is free, on 0860 800 900. It deals with disputes with banks and participating credit providers and with bureau listings, once you have complained to the provider or bureau first.
- If you are already under debt review, section 88(3) of the Act says a credit provider that has been notified may not enforce its rights by litigation until you are in default and one of the events listed in the section has occurred. Tell your counsellor about the contact at once, and ask how this applies to an account that a collections business is handling.
We have not verified a list of what a collector may and may not do, such as contact times or how it must identify itself, so we do not give one. If you think a collector has behaved unfairly, ask the NCR call centre which rule applies.
How debt review with a counsellor is different
Debt review is a legal process under the National Credit Act. A debt counsellor registered with the NCR runs it, and you start it yourself.
- Registration. The NCR registers counsellors as individuals, each with an NCRDC number, even when they trade under a company or brand name. You are entitled to the counsellor's name and surname, place of practice and registration number. See NCR registered debt counsellors.
- You choose it. You apply by completing Form 16. Placing a consumer under debt review without their knowledge and consent is prohibited conduct.
- What the counsellor does. They assess whether you are over-indebted, notify your credit providers and the bureaus, and propose a rearrangement. If all credit providers accept, the counsellor refers it to the National Consumer Tribunal for a consent order. If one or more decline, it goes to the Magistrate's Court.
- What it means for you. You cannot apply for new credit, and the debt review flag shows at the bureaus. The NCR says the flag is not a blacklisting. Debt review does not cancel debt, and repayment may take longer, but you keep legal protection while you pay as agreed.
- The way out. You cannot withdraw once you have applied. The exit is a clearance certificate under section 71 once the debts are paid. See the debt review clearance certificate guide.
Nimble Credit Solutions has a Manage Your Debt page where customers can set up a repayment plan and view their account. That is an arrangement with the business collecting the debt. It is not debt review. Ask for the terms in writing before you agree.
What debt review costs if you choose it
Debt counselling is not free. Nimble is not a counsellor, so none of these are Nimble's fees.
The NCR fee guideline sets these amounts, before VAT:
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Application | R50, paid upfront |
| Administration | R300, paid upfront |
| Restructuring | The lower of the distributable amount or R8,000 (R9,000 if married in community of property), due in month one |
| After-care | 5% of the distributable amount, capped at R450, monthly after month two |
The counsellor must give you all fees in writing before you sign. Ask for a receipt for what you pay upfront. Do not hand the counsellor money to pay your creditors. Pay them directly or through a registered payment distribution agent. More in debt review cost.
Nimble registration and contact details
Checked on 30 September 2026 against Nimble's official website. Before you sign anything with a debt help firm, confirm the debt counsellor's registration with the National Credit Regulator, and never pay a "removal" or "clearance" fee to someone who contacts you out of the blue.

Frequently asked questions
Is Nimble a debt counsellor?
No. Nimble is a credit management and recoveries group. We found no Nimble on the NCR lists of registered, cancelled or lapsed debt counsellors, and neither Nimble site offers debt review.
Why is Nimble contacting me?
If Nimble has contacted you about an account, it is administering that debt for a client. The message should name the original credit provider. If it does not, ask Nimble in writing which account and provider it is about.
Is the Nimble message genuine?
We cannot check any particular message. Contact Nimble on the customer care number and email published on its own website, not through a link or number in the message, and confirm the account before you pay anything.
Can I set up a repayment plan with Nimble?
Nimble Credit Solutions has a Manage Your Debt page with options to set up a repayment plan and view your account. That is an arrangement with the collector, not debt review. Get the terms in writing before you agree.
Can I go into debt review if Nimble is collecting from me?
You can apply through an NCR-registered counsellor if you are over-indebted, meaning your income does not cover all living expenses and debt repayments. Section 86(2) of the Act says debt review cannot include an agreement where the credit provider had already started the enforcement steps in sections 129 and 130 before you applied. A counsellor can tell you how it applies to your account.
Who do I complain to?
Start with the NCR call centre on 0860 627 627 or [email protected]. It handles complaints about credit providers, credit bureaus and debt counsellors. The free National Financial Ombud, 0860 800 900, helps with disputes with banks and participating credit providers and with bureau listings, after you have complained to them first.
How do I contact Nimble?
Nimble customer care is 087 286 0222 and [email protected], as published on its own website. Use those details rather than any number in a message you were sent.
